The Kikuwa Aluminium Root Pick is an excellent tool for bonsai, especially during the repotting process. It’s designed specifically for gently teasing out and combing through the root structure of bonsai trees without causing damage.
Unlike bamboo chopsticks, which are relatively softer and more prone to breakage or splintering, the aluminium construction of the Kikuwa root pick provides added strength. This makes it easier to work through denser or compacted substrates without the tool bending or snapping.
The thin, tapered point of the root pick allows for precise root manipulation, even in compacted soil or tight spaces. This feature is especially helpful for loosening soil around delicate root systems without applying excessive pressure, reducing the risk of damaging roots.
When repotting, use the Kikuwa Aluminium Root Pick to carefully tease apart the roots, working from the outer edges toward the centre, and removing any old, decomposed substrate. This allows the roots to spread more freely, encouraging healthy growth in the new container.
